Bike Racks
Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 08:42 AM
Well, David Byrne has been busy indeed. After downloading his new collaboration with Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, I stopped by his web site looking for info on the Chicago appearance of his upcoming tour (which for some strange reason is the only one you can’t buy tickets for - not listed on Ticketmaster, no info available anywhere). One of the things I saw there was this:
David Byrne is an avid biker, and bikes all over New York. It seems he’s designed a series of bike racks that have been placed throughout the city. There’s a map on the page with locations of each one. However, they’re only going to be displayed for one year. That seems odd to me, you would think something that’s functional and artistic is something the city would want to keep around. I’m pretty sure if it was Chicago they’d be permanent fixtures.
Raise Up the Tent
Wednesday, August 06, 2008 - 11:37 AM
Apparently I’m a little behind the curve on this one, but Tea Leaf Green’s new album, Raise Up the Tent, has been out for a couple of weeks now. I’ll have to give that the ol’ download when I get home tonight. (Hell, maybe I’ll even go shopping and see if I can find the actual CD.)
One thing I find interesting (and really makes me want to check it out) is that this album was produced by David Lowery. (Oh, and it looks like Cracker also has a new album out. I guess I know how I’ll be spending my allowance this week!)
It’s About Time
Tuesday, July 29, 2008 - 10:35 AM
Every time I drive past the Uptown Theatre on Broadway I think about what a shame it is that it’s just sitting there, seemingly abandoned. That’s why I was glad to read this this morning:
Uptown Theatre Goes on the Block
It’s about time. I can’t wait for that theatre to be restored and start showcasing concerts. It’ll instantly become one of the top venues in the city.
Update:
Sold to Jam Productions.
Good News, Everyone!
Monday, July 28, 2008 - 06:41 PM
David Byrne and Brian Eno have finished the album they’ve been working on together. It’s called Everything That Happens Will Happen Today and will be available through their website. It will be followed by a David Byrne tour focusing on this album and his past collaborations with Eno. Go to Everythingthathappens.com for more details.
Also, it’s being self-released without a record label. Very cool. (Although, David’s been with independent labels for some time now.)
Behold, Mighty Jupiter

If you are even the slightest bit interested in astronomy, you must check out this collection of absolutely stunning images of Jupiter (and a couple of its moons). In fact, even if you’re not interested in astronomy, just go check it out.
